Principle and classification of oxidation power supply

Principle of oxidizing power supply

Oxidation power source is a power source that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through a chemical reaction. The main principle is that the flow of electrons released in the REDOX reaction process flows through the wire of the external circuit to form a current and achieve the purpose of converting electrical energy. The oxidation power supply consists of three main parts: positive electrode, negative electrode (also known as anode, cathode) and electrolyte. There is an electrolyte solution between the positive electrode, which is an oxidizable metal such as zinc or iron, and the positive electrode, which can be an oxidizing agent such as oxygen, chlorine or nitric acid.

Classification of oxidized power supplies

According to the working principle and application scenario of the oxidation power supply, the oxidation power supply can be divided into the following categories:

1. Non-rechargeable oxidation power supply

Non-rechargeable oxidized power supply, also known as disposable battery, refers to the battery that can not be recharged after one use. Common non-rechargeable oxidation power supplies are alkaline batteries and lithium batteries. Alkaline battery positive zinc hydroxide, negative zinc; The positive of lithium batteries is manganese trioxide or cobalt oxide, and the negative is lithium metal.

2. Rechargeable oxidation power supply

Rechargeable oxidation power supply, also known as secondary battery, refers to the battery that can be recharged by an external power source after use. Common rechargeable oxidized power supplies are lead-acid batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium-ion batteries. The positive electrode of the lead-acid battery is lead dioxide, and the negative electrode is metallic lead; Nickel-metal hydride battery positive electrode nickel oxide, negative electrode metal hydrogen; Lithium-ion batteries have a positive electrode of metal oxide or phosphate and a negative electrode of graphite.
